Ali is a Leadership and Wellbeing Coach and Trainer and her area of specialism is helping leaders and organisations to prioritise their emotional health and wellbeing in order to improve personal and organisational performance. She works with leaders, managers and their teams to help them better understand themselves, their motivations, and their strengths, and to make better decisions in their career and personal lives.

Ali’s style is gently challenging, and she is committed to helping those she trains and coaches to unlock their ambitions, to have the confidence to commit to a plan of action, and to develop wellbeing and resilience practices to see it through.   

Ali has over 30 years’ experience to Director level in corporate, international and stakeholder relations roles, working with institutional senior leadership teams in Government, Public Sector and Higher Education, to drive strategy and enhance performance. She has lived and worked in Japan, Germany and Spain and brings to her work a deep cultural awareness.

Ali holds a distinction in the Advanced Diploma in Mental Health and Wellbeing Coaching from Kingstown College, Dublin, which is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She also holds the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring. Ali is accredited at Practitioner level with the EMCC.

As well as working as a partner with Cairney and Company, Ali is an Executive Coach for Warwick Business School andcurrently delivers webinars on Happiness, Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing on behalf of the global movement Action for Happiness. She has coached individuals at Teach First and several other Higher Education Institutions (including being a coach for the Oxford Brookes University coaching programme), and has a successful private client practice. Ali has worked with middle managers, senior leaders, CEOs, and principals in small and large organisations, both public and private sector, including Sky, Siemens, HSBC, Perrett Laver and Government.  

Ali is proud to have founded the University of Warwick Business School Mentoring programme, which came third in the UK Training Journal Awards for best Coaching and Mentoring programme and is a thriving programme today.

What inspires Ali to think big?

Having met Nelson Mandela in the early 90s, I have been inspired by his words “There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”. I always make it my intention to inspire those I work with to live to their full potential and passion.
